Unfortunately we have had to cancel our first Make It workshop that was to take place on Friday 2 March 2018 in Newtownards due to the adverse weather conditions.
We are still planning for the ‘Make It’ workshops to take place at St Marks Parish Centre, Church Street on Friday Friday 9th March from 9:30 am to 12:30pm.
The workshops are aimed at people who are interested in gaining future employment. They have been designed to build confidence and inform people who struggle to apply for jobs or attend interview to make a positive step towards employment. The workshops are informal with an opportunity to meet the Stepping Stones NI team over a free breakfast and upcycling activity.
Stepping Stones NI Trainer, Lyndon Madden will deliver the ‘Make It’ workshops. Lyndon has a background in craft and upcycling while also being an experienced trainer.
“The ‘Make It’ workshops will be fun and interactive. Participants don’t need to bring any materials or tools, just the interest to engage in a craft making activity and learn something new” says Lyndon.
We have been supporting people who experience barriers to employment for twenty years. Our Training and Employment team have a wide range of expertise at supporting people who lack confidence and self-belief to secure a job. We also specialise in mentoring and coaching towards employment to people with dyslexia, adhd, autism and learning difficulties and learning disabilities.
Lyndon adds “We understand the difficulties that some people face when they are looking for employment. We get it and we know that with the right support, people who experience barriers to employment can make it in employment and stay in employment. Our ‘Make It’ workshops will show participants how they can get support every step of the way to achieve their goal of getting a job in a fun and engaging way”.
Registration is open now by contacting Eimear McSorley on 028 92 666 404 or by emailing makeit@stepping-stones.org.uk. People who are interested in participating must not be in work or full time education and provide their national insurance number to secure a place.
Stepping Stones NI is part funded though the Northern Ireland European Social Fund Programme 2014 – 2020 and the Department for the Economy.
